Meet Our Team

Since 2006, Elizabeth Bennett has served as University Registrar. In this role, she is responsible for supporting the administrative and academic needs related to student and course data for all UCI schools. She serves as the chief data steward for student information and student systems. Her team supports all aspects of student records management, registration, course management, room scheduling, teaching and course evaluations, degree audit, enrollment and degree certification, diploma management, institutional reporting, tuition and fee management, and National Collegiate Athletic Association athlete certification. Prior to joining UCI, she was the University Registrar at University of California, Riverside. Elizabeth earned a B.A. in English literature from UC Riverside.

Darren serves as the Chief Operating and Financial Officer for the unit. From human resources to finance, he oversees the division’s management processes and activities to ensure resources are ready and available to achieve our goals and aspirations.

As an Anteater Alum, Darren is proud to dedicate his professional career towards the principles and values of higher education and the personal and academic development of our young leaders.

Darren values movement towards equity in our world with the understanding that overcoming life or societal challenges ultimately builds character and general grit. This general desire for a fair shake with emphasis on personal responsibility and accountability has continually pushed him towards excellence with integrity.

Originally from Gardena, CA, this Southern California native enjoys traveling with his spouse and cocker spaniel. He also enjoys performing with Kishin Daiko (Japanese drum ensemble) and has had the unique opportunity to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards and Grammy Awards.

As a key partner to the Vice Provost of Enrollment Management, Tony plays a central role in supporting institutional enrollment priorities and strategies. He provides leadership in assessing new initiatives to ensure they meet strategic enrollment goals.

A major component of his portfolio is overseeing the Enrollment Management Analytics unit. In this capacity, Tony ensures that academic unit leaders and program managers receive the high-level decision support and information systems management required to navigate complex enrollment landscapes.

Prior to joining Enrollment Management, Tony directed the federal TRIO program, Upward Bound. His professional journey is defined by a deep commitment to student advocacy, progressing from direct outreach to programming and curriculum development, and ultimately to his current management role guiding and supporting organizational policy and strategy.

Emily serves as Director of the Veteran Benefits Office (VBO), within Enrollment Management. As the Primary School Certifying Official (SCO), Emily functions as the main liaison between UC Irvine and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). She also acts as the point of contact for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Memorandum of Understanding. In her role, Emily expertly researches, analyzes, and develops solutions to a wide range of Veteran benefit policy, process, and operational issues.

Emily holds a B.A. in English Literature and an M.L.I.S. (Master of Library and Information Science), both from the University of California, Los Angeles.

David fosters and maintains positive relationships between the university and its students, community partners, and the larger public. He oversees all community relations and communication initiatives with a primary focus on UCI’s overall mission, goals and objectives and enhancing its image on a local, regional, national and global level.

David values helping and serving others. He enjoys drawing out the unique stories all people and organizations hold within. In his current role, David strives to share the university’s compelling enrollment story with its many audiences outside of the university.

David lives in San Clemente with his wife, Mary, and enjoys an active, healthy lifestyle of sports (Pickleball, golf), exercise, volunteering and travel.

Shawn Trondsen currently serves as the Interim Vice Provost, Enrollment Management. In this capacity, Shawn oversees Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships, University Registrar and the Veteran Benefits Office.

After joining UC Irvine in 2017 as Associate Director of System Development, Shawn led the implementation of the Slate CRM system for Undergraduate Admissions. In 2019, he became Director of Systems and Operations for Undergraduate Admissions, where he played a key role in advancing yield modeling and admissions selection processes while collaborating to modernize enrollment management systems.

Prior to joining UC Irvine, Shawn served as Associate Director of Admission Communication at Chapman University, and had a decade of previous higher education experience at UC Irvine and UCLA. He holds an MBA from Chapman University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from California State University, Fullerton.

Jun performs Research & Analytics to inform Strategy & Data-Driven Decision Making for campus leaders and stakeholders. He provides actionable intelligence and consultative services across the campus to support student success.

Jun has presented and won numerous awards in national and international conferences, and published in peer-reviewed journals. Outside of work, Jun is a physically active person who enjoys sports and the outdoors. His personal anecdote? Be the change you want to see in the world.
